Serbian Patriarch Porfirije receives 12th generation of students pursuing Advanced Security and Defence Studies
The 12th generation of students pursuing the Advanced Security and Defence Studies at “Field Marshal Radomir Putnik” School of National Defence has been received by His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije at the Residence of the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
Heads of “Field Marshal Radomir Putnik” School of National Defence and the Advanced Security and Defence Studies, colonels Mićo Suvajac and Branko S. Mišić, briefed His Holiness on the goals and functioning of educational system in the domain of national defence. It was emphasized that one of the students attending the Advanced Security and Defence Studies was Protodeacon Petar Dabić, PhD, a member of the Committee on Bioethics of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, who had been selected, as a representative of the Serbian Orthodox Church, to attend the Advanced Security and Defence Studies – the highest-level career development program offered by the Defence University.
In his address and conversation with the course participants, Patriarch Porfirije said that a safe and peaceful life of the country and the people were imperative in any era, as testified by the Church. His Holiness wished the course participants success in their studies, pointing out that maintaining peace and stability was a prerequisite for the prosperity of the country and the people as a whole.
The reception was also attended by Igor Bečić, chairman of the Security Services Control Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, who was part of the 10th generation of students who attended the Advanced Security and Defence Studies. Bečić presented Patriarch Porfirije with a Plaque of the Committee on the Parliamentary Oversight of Security Sector.
His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije was also presented with the plaques of the “Field Marshal Radomir Putnik” School of National Defence and the Advanced Security and Defence Studies as tokens of gratitude for the reception and cooperation.
