MaritimeInstructor Course Completed
At the Military Academy, from 10th to 25th April, a maritime instructor course was held, which was completed by two participants from the River Flotilla of the Serbian Armed Forces.
Experienced teachers of riverine units at the Military Academy transferred basic methodological knowledge and teaching skills in modern conditions to the participants of the course. In addition, by exchanging experiences with the course participants, laboratory exercises on sailing and maneuvering a ship in different conditions on the water, as well as numerous tasks that can be performed on a ship simulator, were developed for cadets and young officers.
The course was conducted in the navigation and maritime special purpose classrooms, where there is also a command bridge simulator. This modern teaching tool provides the user with more complete training in navigation and steering a ship, and combines the following elements: ECDIS, radar, ship propulsion, GMDSS.
The maritime courses that are implemented at the Military Academy aim to prepare future sailors for life and work in ship conditions, but also for solving various missions and tasks on the water. The importance of the training of maritime instructors is also reflected in the scope of tasks that are set before future sailors, starting from the knowledge of ship schedules, procedures in case of danger, basic safety rules on board and procedures in other unforeseen situations on board, up to abandoning the ship and protecting shipwrecked persons.
At the end of the course, participants were awarded certificates of completion of the maritime instructor course.
