The eighth session of the Mixed Committee appointed to oversee the defence cooperation between Serbia and Algeria has been held in Belgrade over the past two days.

According to the co-president of the Serbian part of the committee, Rector of the Defence University Lieutenant General Goran Radovanović, PhD, defence cooperation between the two countries exhibits an upward trend. He expressed belief that this session would initiate constructive discussion and good suggestions that would contribute to establishing an even closer and more concrete cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

According to the co-president of the Algerian part of the mixed committee, Major General Smail Seddiki, this session, which was preceded by a visit paid by the Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army of Algeria, reflects the commitment of the senior military leadership to improving the cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the defence industry field, in which Serbia is considered an important partner.

On the second day of the session, General Seddiki was received by State Secretary Branko Živanović. During the talks, they agreed that defence cooperation is on the rise, but that there is still room for improvement, as well as establishment and development of cooperation in other areas of common importance.
